Not calibrated over wall tiles
Whether your style is rustic or modern, traditional or modern, natural stone tiles have a timeless appeal. The natural properties of slate, with its layers and textures arising from its birth in volcanic ash, bring the beauty of nature into our homes.
Because slates are a natural material, you will have variations on the stone that add to its appeal. It can look rustic when paired with an oak kitchen or take on a hotel-worthy, contemporary look when paired with glossy black ceramic. Slabs of slate are available calibrated and uncalibrated, indicating the cost. With calibrated tiles, the split surface is removed from the back of the tile, so you'll see less variation in thickness from tile to tile, making them easier to install. It has a rustic split surface on both sides that is not calibrated, giving you the option to choose either side of the tile, although the thickness is greater from tile to tile.
Slate's durable properties and rich earth tones make it a timeless and popular choice for interiors. Its subtle layers and textures bring an element of outdoor beauty to any space. Each piece of stone has its own unique hues and patterns, and our uncalibrated multi-slate tile takes advantage of these differences to create a distinctive and eye-catching look. Suitable for use with underfloor heating provided the correct surface preparation and a suitable flexible cementitious tile adhesive. Because slate is an excellent conductor of heat, it is an excellent choice for floors to be used in conjunction with an underfloor heating system.
Uncalibrated tiles
Uncalibrated tiles can be natural or artificial. Since it is not calibrated, uncalibrated tiles must be "layered" throughout the laying process to achieve an even surface. For this reason, professional installation is required as soon as possible. Sorted tiles, on the other hand, are flattened to allow them to stack neatly. This gives the design a more modern look.
Uncalibrated stone tiles must be sorted before laying; thicker tiles will level the floor and thinner tiles should be embedded first with a suitable large format floor adhesive.
The dimensional accuracy of our thin tiles meets the requirements of the standard, which allows a tolerance of 0.5 mm. On the contrary, the requirement for uncalibrated tiles is +/-1 mm and +/-1.5 in terms of thickness and is therefore suitable for laying with narrow joints (2-3 mm) or in special cases for seamless tiles.
The edges of an unfixed tile are uneven. This makes for a more natural looking tile but requires a wider grout line giving it a more traditional tile look. Choosing a smoothed or unfixed tile depends on your preferences and the type of space to be tiled. Unrectified tiles are less expensive due to the additional manufacturing processes required for trimming. The edges are less sharp, which can be desirable in a more relaxed, natural-looking setup. It can look more modern with its rectified seamless surfaces, while being unrectified gives you more opportunities to use decorative joints.
